The pupil premium was introduced by the government in April 2011 and is allocated to use to raise the attainment of students who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘ever 6 FSM or FSM6). For more information click on the links below.

Schools have the freedom to spend the disadvantaged allocation in a way which they feel will best support the progress of students. Alongside this, there is the commitment to report allocation, spend and renew impact.
Schools also receive extra funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, children of service personnel and Year 7 students who have not reached level four in English or maths.
Children Adopted from Care
From April 2014, schools in England can receive the pupil premium for children adopted from care or who left care under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) on or after 30 December 2005. Schools can also claim the pupil premium for children who left care under a Residence Order (RO) on or after 14 October 1991.
Year 7 Catch up Premium
This funding is to provide additional teaching support to pupils who have not reached level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of year 6.

Service Child Premium
The government introduced a Service children premium in April 2011. Unlike the main deprivation pupil premium this is not about raising attainment but about providing additional (mainly pastoral) support.
