Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends,

I trust you had a restful and refreshing Easter break. The holidays offer a valuable opportunity to pause, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. While I was fortunate enough to get away, I was reliably informed that the break brought some lovely sunny days, I hope you were able to make the most of them and spend some time outdoors. For many in our community, it was also a chance to ‘lock in’ on revision ahead of the busy exam period in the weeks and months to come.

We marked the end of the spring term with our new Student Leadership Team delivering their first full assembly. They did an excellent job, and Dr Lewis, along with his prefects, added to the occasion with some impressively energetic dance moves.

Congratulations to Broderers for winning the house competition for a third consecutive year, a fantastic achievement! As the new charity year begins, we look forward to seeing a range of creative fundraising events and even greater participation from students in the activities planned.

On Saturday morning, while most of the school was enjoying a well-earned holiday lie-in, Mr Mosley was up before dawn leading 51 students and 5 members of staff to Livigno, Italy, for a much-anticipated ski trip. I had the pleasure of accompanying the group, and what a fantastic experience it was! We set off from London City Airport which was a first for many of us, but even more exciting for anyone who was into 80’s pop, having spotted Jason Donovan. Only a few of us oldies knew who he was!

I hadn’t realised beforehand that Livigno was one of the host venues for the recent 2026 Winter Olympics, which made the trip even more special. This was my second attempt at skiing, my first, a few years ago, didn’t go quite to plan, so I approached the slopes ready to learn and improve and I am pleased to report I finally understand how to ‘pizza’ and do ‘big turns’. The girls were outstanding throughout, and our highly skilled instructors were full of praise for their progress, determination, and willingness to embrace new challenges.

For some students, this was their first time seeing real snow, and we were fortunate to enjoy excellent weather throughout the trip. From the authentic Italian cuisine to the warm hospitality of the hotel staff, the entire experience was truly second to none and our students were a credit to our school.

Mr Mosley has shared:

This year we went to Livigno in Italy, one of the resorts that hosted this year’s Winter Olympics. We took 51 students and 6 staff Members to the Hotel Loredana during the first week of the holidays. Of the 51 Students 35 of them had never done any proper skiing before other than the dry slope lessons in Guildford meaning we had three beginner groups. Everyone made a huge amount of progress in the week, and my highlight of the trip was getting every single member of the tour party to the highest point in the resort, just under 3000 metres above sea level for a photo before spending the afternoon skiing back down. The Ski School could not have been more complementary of the girls, and we constantly received such lovely comments about their polite, happy attitudes – even when some of them had some wobbles. After our fantastic evening meals our times were filled with lots of evening activities like the classic Quiz, excellently hosted by Mr Crawley. The T-shirt design night, a pizza and shopping evening and a trip to a local creamery for some fresh Italian gelato! One the last evening we were able to celebrate all the students (and some staff) highlights with our presentation assembly.

I could not be prouder of the wonderful students who attended the trip they really were a credit to the school and you as parents for their brilliant spirit. They were still surprising the hotel staff on the morning of our departure when they formed a human chain to pass all the bags from the lobby of the hotel to the bus. Thank you also to Miss Harris, Mrs Connor, Mrs Smith, Mrs Barani and Mr Crawley for giving up their time to accompany the trip and support the students – we would not have been able to do it without you.

Here are a few pictures:

A massive thank you to Mr Mosely for his impeccable planning, the staff members who came on the trip with us as well the parents for trusting us with their daughters.

The extracurricular timetable for the summer term will be published shortly. Please encourage your daughter to review what is on offer and to choose at least one club in which she would like to participate. Engaging in extracurricular activities plays an important role in supporting wellbeing and personal development, helping students to build confidence, develop new skills, form friendships, and maintain a healthy balance alongside their academic studies.

Year 10 and Year 12 have made an excellent start to the term and have already begun their PPEs. Although this is a short half term, it is an especially busy and important period, particularly for our Year 11 and Year 13 students as they prepare for their GCSE and A-level examinations.

We wish them every success and are confident that their hard work and dedication will pay off. Thank you to parents for your continued support during this time, your encouragement (and the occasional snacks) truly makes a difference in helping them stay focused and grounded.
